Hello, this is Justin England, Founder and Chief Information Officer of Rana. Many ideas have come and gone in the technology world over the past few decades, but one dream has persisted despite never being fully realized: the dream of a truly Decentralized Web. Early experiments in P2P technologies, distributed computation, and self-describing data types have developed slowly and largely independently until today, waiting for the appearance of a technology that can unify them all easily, persistently, and with minimal upkeep and maintenance over time.

Open-source AI models and local-first browser technologies finally offer what is needed to bring these worlds together, empower end-users to fully control their own data without needing to upload it to the cloud, and to easily share computational and data resources with anyone who has similar interests. AI alignment can only be accomplished at the level of the individual, and so we are building the Rana ecosystem to empower end-users to show both AI agents and other people what is most important, in order to help build a world in service to all people. Humanity’s strength is in our unity despite our differences, not in our uniformity.

The appearance of AI marks the beginning of the Age of Intelligence.
